... so, after almost a decade of trying to suppress the desire - I'm here. I've got the rent paid at my place in Queens and I've got two months to find a job and figure out how to keep my ass here.
... wish me luck. I need a bit.

I appreciate the sentiment. This is still so much better than Pittsburgh, I can't even...

welcome to queens. I'm born and raised here. You'll have fun.
Edit: every New Yorker will not let you forget that they're from New York. :) just a heads up unless you didn't catch that from my post! Welcome!

Good luck, and nice bike!

Thank you.
And not to gush on the bike (but I'm gonna!,) it's an '87 VFR with 40k on it. It was sitting for five years and needed a fuel pump, carb overhaul, and a battery. I have $550 in it with repairs and materials to paint the tank. It ran like a new bike for 7 hours straight to get here. I usually don't sway toward Honda bikes in other classes, but I will say this thing is really solid.

Wow nice, it came out really good. Thought it was a lot newer/more modern until I saw the headlight.

update! - good old club b&n (referred to as Barnes & Noble by the free man) decided that my time slinging books for them in college deemed me worthy of a minimum wage job in their flagship store @ Union Square amongst a pool of 500+ applicants. Looks like I get to stay in NYC...
now if I can just find a room for rent that doesn't require taking a bus to get to the subway... The floats on my carbs are starting to stick and flood my bike within 2 minutes of firing, so I'm going to need to rebuild all four of them this winter... At least it hasn't been stolen!... yet...
